Organic Search Marketing SEO

Search Engine Optimization or SEO is a method of generating traffic from organic or free search engine channels. As the digital marketing landscape continues to evolve, so must modern marketing practices; in particular SEO. For the last several years, SEO referred primarily to the practice of creating content around keywords and links to improve your Google rankings. However, with new technologies and an increased popularity in content marketing, changes to Google's scoring applications are revolutionizing digital marketing. Here are three ways Google is evolving the SEO landscape and how you can adapt to these new changes!

  • Hidden Keyword Data - As Google (the primary search engine) is now hiding keyword data, marketers must now create content that is relevant to the way buyers are actively searching for solutions. This means producing consistent content that provides your visitors with something of value (education, ebooks, whitepapers, etc.) The goal of SEO is to get the right content in front of the right buyers at the right time. In the current state of digital marketing this means creating content around buyer intent signals, not loosely associated keywords.
  • Rewarding Well Optimized Landing Pages - Google is now penalizing companies that direct visitors back to a generic web-site rather than a dedicated landing page. Landing Pages are single web-sites that provide visitors with a specific solution regarding a specific pain point. (Stay tuned for our blog post on best practices to optimize landing pages).
  • MobileGeddon - If you are unaware of this major bomb that Google has dropped on the digital marketing world, then I am glad you are reading this! Mobilegeddon refers to the shift in Google's algorithm that is now penalizing companies whose landing pages are not optimized for mobile search. This shift is incredibly empowering for consumers ... eye-opening for companies who are either not producing landing pages or who are unaware of the need to do so.
