Marketing Plan Social Media

Social media has become an intrinsic part in the way consumers search for solutions and discover content online. Social media marketing allows marketers to expand the reach, engagement and influence of their content while simultaneously building relationships with consumers and other brands. The question shouldn't be "should I have a plan for social media?". Instead the question should be, "how can I make my social media marketing plan the most effective?". Here are three tips to answer the latter;

  1. Share pieces of content (from other companies) that educate your audience. By sharing content from other companies you can benefit your brand in two valuable ways. First, you position yourself as a thought leader aimed at building relationships rather than being a self-promotional brand thats only concerned with "whats in it for me." Second, you build relationships with other complimentary brands who can become advocates, influencers and fans. Furthermore, these brands may have a larger audience, so by tapping into their networks you can gain more visibility.
  2. Retweet and engage with popular & trending pieces of content. The goal of your social media marketing plan shouldn't be to solely to get followers, but rather engage with those followers. A great way to do this is to share popular pieces of content or engage with pieces of content that are trending in your industry. Also, you should keep on lines of communication and have conversations with customers, potential buyers, and other thought leaders.
  3. Promote your own pieces of content. Obviously you still want to promote your own pieces of content. However, the key is to make sure you are promoting valuable pieces of content that are optimized for lead generation. This means promoting your ebooks, webinars, definitive guides, etc. and ensuring that they are gated by a form fill for lead capture. Social media is also great for sharing blogs and targeted landing pages tailored around particular keywords that are important to your audience.

Social media is a powerful tool that allows marketers to engage with brands and consumers, influence potential buyers through content and promote educational content to build relationships with brands and educate potential buyers.
